Best waves are in the north and south smaller ones touch Legian Beach.
There are no big breakers similar to Hawaii and elsewhere at Kuta waterfront they reach up to around two meters when strong wind is blowing in. There is something going on on the surf theme in the north west close to the National Park but its difficult to travel there like to any place on the island, they never built good roads. Another excellent location is South Kuta at Uluwatu.
What makes it real attractive is the beach is very close to the Kuta City means just grab your surfboard and jump in the water no need to drive around a lot. Legian Seafront (first picture below) is ideal for beginners and actually everyone who like surfing.
At Uluwatu in South Kuta are the best swells at the lower end of the island.
Turn to earth map and you will see the brakes of the waves.
People say Padang Padang is the best surf spot on Bali Island.
They might be right it also depends on what level as surfers they are. Find the place on the map a bit north of Uluwatu above.
