In Indonesia are about 130 volcanoes since the country is located on the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire. In mid-September all signs had pointed at an imminent eruption of Mount Agung, and on 22 September the authorities called out the highest level of warning. More than 130,000 people fled from their villages in the vicinity of the volcano and sought refuge in shelters.

But the activity of Mount Agung then subsided, at the end of October, the authorities lifted the highest alert level again. Only a zone of 7.5 kilometers diameter around the crater may not be entered. Nearly 25,000 people are currently still in emergency shelters.
The more than 3000 meters high volcano erupted last in the years 1963 and 1964, about 1200 people were killed at that time.

The Indonesian island of Bali is a much visited tourist destination but not as overrun by Chinese and Russian visitors as Phuket Thailand. Every year around five million guests come there. However, Mount Agung is located in the northeast of the island relatively far from the well-known tourist centers around the cities of Denpasar / Kuta and Ubud a hiking destination for many visitors here are Bali photos.

The Indonesian authorities have announced that in the event of an eruption of Mount Agung tourists will be taken with the car to the neighboring islands of Java and Lombok with 100 leased buses from where they will be able to fly home.
